Terms and Conditions

This is a not-for-proft website with no religious agenda. We do not charge churches and we are grateful to those volunteers willing to work for free to provide this fantastic service. It is unlikely that we will be able to help with printing, publishing or research costs. This service is run and paid for by volunteers. All services are open to all public, historic places of worship, not just churches, and anyone is welcome to register as a writer.

This website does not take any responsibility for agreements made between writers and churches, guides written by our volunteers or any other transactions conducted through this website. It exists purely to help facilitate churches and potential writers to meet, no guarantees are made nor do we run a match making service. We are unable to help over matters of copyright. To the best of our knowledge copyright belongs to the writer, but we encourage writers and churches to make agreements themselves and to be clear about what each party expects of the other. We have never come across a dispute arising between a church and guide writer.

If you have any suggestions relating to the website, the guide for writers or any other activity the website is engaged in, please feel free to contact us.

About Us

ChurchGuides.co.uk was founded by Gabriel Byng in 2012. Gabriel is an architectural historian and researcher at Cambridge University with many years experience of visiting and writing about churches and their history. His vision is that every church, and other historic place of worship, will have an intelligent and innovative guide to its history, which will show visitors from all backgrounds how fascinating and extraordinary parish church architecture can be.

ChurchGuides.co.uk is the first and only website to link volunteer writers and churches looking for a new guide. It is completely not-for-profit and has no religious agenda. It is also leading the way in encouraging churches to use new forms of social media to explain their work and history.
